At Future Foundation, 2024 has been a year that tested our resilience, celebrated our growth, and deepened our commitment to the families we serve.
The Journey of Perseverance
Anyone who works in the nonprofit sector knows the unique challenges we face. From meeting ambitious fundraising goals to managing staffing constraints, each day brings new obstacles to overcome. But at Future Foundation, these challenges don’t deter us – they fuel our determination to serve our community better.
This year held particular significance for our Future Foundation family. In October, we experienced the profound loss of Coach Amir Abdur-Rahim, whose impact on our organization and community cannot be overstated. His mantra, #LoveWins, wasn’t just a hashtag—it was a philosophy he lived by while coaching his teams. That sentiment will continue to guide everything we do– we are going to win. We see it as a prophecy to be fulfilled in the face of life changes Through this loss, we’ve learned that love truly wins even in our darkest moments, and our commitment to our mission grows stronger.
After all, we’ve got something to prove!
Our 2024 Milestones
Future Foundation has achieved remarkable growth and recognition this year despite the challenges. We’re proud to share our key accomplishments:
- Achieving Excellence Through Accreditation: We received prestigious accreditation from the Council of Accreditation, which validated our commitment to maintaining the highest standards in youth service delivery and best practices.
- Securing Future Growth: We successfully obtained approval for the 21st CCLC 24-25 Grant Application from the GA Department of Education. This will help us expand our capacity to serve more students and ensure continued support for our essential youth programs.
- Strengthening Leadership: We welcomed 11 new members to our Board of Directors, expanding to a dynamic 16-member board while achieving significant increases in board member giving and organizational governance.
- Expanding Corporate Partnerships: We built powerful new relationships with industry leaders, including Kimberly-Clark, PwC, Walmart, and Sam’s Club, that helped us strengthen our foundation for sustainable growth and community impact.
- Community Engagement: We met our ambitious Giving Tuesday goals while enhancing our community outreach and engagement initiatives across multiple platforms.

The Power of Second Family
At Future Foundation, we’ve always believed in the power of family – not just biological family, but the extended family we create through our work. Our staff, volunteers, board members, and the families we serve all contribute to this sense of belonging.
