Summer Brown and Chris Patterson, seventh graders at Woodland Middle School and active participants in our Reef House Learning Center, were selected to take a test for the Duke University Talent Identification Program (DukeTIP). Summer was the only seventh grader in the South Fulton Learning Community who was accepted into the Summer Program.
Duke TIP is a global leader in identifying academically gifted students and providing them with opportunities to support their development. As a world leader in gifted and talented education, Duke TIP works with students, their families, and educators to identify, recognize, challenge, engage, and help students reach their highest potential.
In addition, because Chris and Summer both excelled in the seventh grade, they will have the opportunity to take their CORE classes at Tri-Cities during the 2014-2015 school year as part of a dual program.
The two students take part in The Reef House Learning Center, a supervised and secure environment that encourages and rewards academic excellence. It’s a place where students receive the foundation, skills and support to maximize their potential, take advantage of opportunities for physical, performing and visual arts activity, and grow up surrounded by a nurturing support network. Opened in 2004, sixth and seventh grade students come to Reef House Learning Center for rigorous academic coaching and exposure to the vast world of possibilities. Congratulations to Summer and Chris, we are so proud of you!
