United Way announces FUTURE FOUNDATION as winner of their $300,000 Dare to Forget the Box Prize – to implement the innovative works of the College Park Enrichment Collaboration (CPEC)!
Today, United Way of Greater Atlanta announced the winners of its DARE to Forget the Box! prizes. Out of the 80 agencies that applied and 25 finalists, we were one of four collaborative teams addressing critical systemic issues to be selected to receive prizes. We are proud to say that we are a recipient of a $300,000 grant annually, totaling $900,000 over the next three years that will greatly impact the lives of over a hundred youth and families in South Fulton! Earl Johnson commends Future Foundation during recent visit
Each year, more than 800 male and female youth 12-18 participate in our Real Talk ATL abstinence until marriage and healthy relationships program. That’s why we were thrilled when Earl Johnson, Director, Office of Family Assistance, US Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families (ACF), praised the program during a recent Future Foundation visit. A Lesson in Physics – Poster Car Competition
Last week's lesson in Physics courtesy of Lead Teacher, Glen Hordges: Efficiency = Distance x 454 / Weight (gm) - the ratio of effective output to the total input! Students of the Reef House Teen Center had the opportunity to plan, design, and construct a poster car using the following materials: one sheet of poster board, one plastic drinking straw, two P.C. 1/2 x 3 1/2 hanger rods, 1 ruler, pair of scissors, a glue gun, a compass, scrap paper & a pencil. The goal was to transport a "C" battery while traveling a maximum distance beyond a 3x4 ft. launching ramp.
