Future Foundation introduces groundbreaking Brain Balance program
If both halves of the brain are not processing at the same speed and working together, the entire body is not functioning as a whole or at its best. That’s the theory behind Brain Balance, which was introduced to Future Foundation in 2013. The program, which started with four boys, now has eight active participants, with eight more coming into the program starting in April. Brain Balance integrates three key pillars of brain development—sensory motor exercises, cognitive activities and nutritional guidance—to address the root cause of most learning and developmental issues. This unique integrated approach is what makes Brain Balance different and so effective. “One side of the brain … [Read more...] about Future Foundation introduces groundbreaking Brain Balance program
Post Event Update: American Promise Movie Screening, Panel Discussion, & Essay Contest
On November 11, Future Foundation presented, A Conversation With Our Sons, a panel discussion and film screening designed to equip the audience with skills to successfully raise African American males and provide them with heroes in their lives in the form of mentors. In addition to the film screening, male students at Tri-Cities High School participated in an essay contest where they reflected on what it means to be a successful young man in America, barriers faced, and what it takes to overcome obstacles. Congratulations to our first-prize essay winner, Eugene Teah. He will receive a cash prize. Read his moving essay. … [Read more...] about Post Event Update: American Promise Movie Screening, Panel Discussion, & Essay Contest
Making Heroes out of Our Learning and Teen Center Students
There's nothing quite like the connection made when reading to a child. The connection is even more meaningful when the reader is reading his or her own book. That simple thought drove a new activity for students at our Learning and Teen Centers: writing and illustrating their own books-then reading them to pre-K children at local daycare facilities. The idea was developed by one of our employee innovation program teams called Gift Givers. Because the books can be read over and over, we call it gifts that keep on giving. And the students become heroes to the children they read to. Students are creating more than a dozen books with themes of giving: Gift of Friendship, Gift of Love, … [Read more...] about Making Heroes out of Our Learning and Teen Center Students
Your help today will enable us to enter 2014 with a clean slate.
This has been a good year for Future Foundation. Our successful fundraising efforts have enabled the organization to cover all of the costs for our various programs, allowing us to continue providing services to our targeted communities. Now, as we enter the last 90 days of the year, I’m asking you—one of Future Foundation’s valued friends—to help us achieve another goal: cover our administrative costs through the fourth quarter so we can end the year with a balanced budget and enter 2014 with a clean slate. Future Foundation’s vision is to enhance and expand our award-winning education and life-skill training programs to impact the more than 30% of youth ages 10 to 18 growing up in … [Read more...] about Your help today will enable us to enter 2014 with a clean slate.
RealTalk ATL Ambassadors spread the word about Love To Stand Out
We established the RealTalk ATL Ambassador Society in 2009 to help the teen members gain life skills training and cultural exposure, plan events, and collaborate with Future Foundation on curriculum. This year, we’ve given our RealTalk ATL Ambassadors, who are at various high schools throughout Atlanta, a new responsibility: help promote Love To Stand Out, our one-year campaign that builds on the Future Foundation’s “Prepare to Stand Out” slogan and calls to mind both the idea that “it takes love to stand out” and that students should “love to stand out”—because it’s hard to be different from your peers. The campaign includes a monthly theme that relates specifically to the areas of … [Read more...] about RealTalk ATL Ambassadors spread the word about Love To Stand Out
